About Kalkan

Kalkan is a touristic neighborhood in Kaş, west of Antalya. There are no city remains or settlements in Kalkan and its surroundings, which are located in the land between Antalya and Fethiye, where the Lycian Civilization lived about 3000 years ago and numerous cities were established. It is believed that Kalkan was founded 150-200 years ago by merchants from the Greek island of Meis, located nearby. In Kalkan Village, which used to be the center of Kalkan District of Kaş district, the town municipality was established on February 27, 1976 with the decision of the Ministry of Interior.
